I'm starting to feel sorry for the little house!

I decided to offer our school the opportunity to salvage whatever they wanted from the little house.
It seemed like a good idea at the time - and habitat for humanity would not accept any of it, unless I delivered it to them.
I was hoping that there might be something that the school could use - slate from the roof, AC units, the furnace, etc.

Well,I guess they have started the stripping process because, it looks terrible! The roof slate has been thrown all over the yard. The gutters were ripped off, the windows were left wide open - with a ladder  on the ground right beside them. I'm worried about kids/teens getting in to the little house. It looks miserable!

I have vacant house insurance - but...I am still concerned about liability.
I want to have the materials used - if someone needs them - but...I guess I just don't want the little house degraded by the process. I know that does not make any sense - but...somehow, it made me sad to see it in such a state.

The builder met us out there today - to lay out the driveway, and determine the exact location of the house. He agreed to move the front of the house back 10' from it's current location. The further back we go - the more privacy we will have in the back yard. If we go farther back - we will lose the view of the fields and the school - so I think 10' is the max.

He said that the demolition will most likely be done within a week and a half. I just want some notice - so that I can be sure to be there.

I am not sure how I have become so attached to the little house - but I have. I definitely want to be there when they take it down. In fact - I want my whole family to be there. I'm not sure what day or time it will be yet - but, I'll post it once I know. You are welcome to come watch too - if you are free.
I hope that it will not be during school hours - but, if it is, I am going to have to pull the kids out for it. This is part of our family history - and I don't want them to miss it!
