Mid May Update from the Little House

Well - our plan to hit the market mid April  has come and gone, but....we've made great progress!
Mid May now, and we are getting very close!

Stuart has finished the covered porch, resided the back, added the window and replaced all of the old deck boards.

He also added this new window into the laundry room to add extra light.

Marcus & John got the cabinets installed.

Just a few more panels and pieces of crown, and the hardware and these will be done.

Another view to show the refrigerator wall.

We had big holes in the baseboard everywhere that we removed radiators.
John had to go to Siewers Lumber to match the baseboard trim. They don't carry the same  1940's trim @ Home Depot & Lowes. I am so glad that we have a great source in town to get exactly what we need. It makes such a difference.

I pulled up three layers of vinyl and laminate off of the concrete in the back room. Now it will be ready to be replaced with something new & fresh.

We had a busy day today @ the house.
Nathan & Benjamin were hanging sheetrock in the Laundry/mudroom , while Stuart & TJ were mixing and pouring concrete in the new half bath.
I was painting and Marcus was working on trim and the closet in the third bedroom.

This was funny...
Stuart was so worried about me going into the room before it cured. He had it all taped off.
Look closely - middle left....

They forgot to grab TJ's phone before pouring all of the concrete in - so it was trapped in there for a few hours.

The tape didn't stop me.
I like to scratch a little blessing into wet cement for the house, and the new family.
Besides - what harm does it do? It will be under the floor - no one will be the wiser :)

Shelves went up in the kitchen

We have several buckets of paint that look very similar. I noticed that the painter had written on the lids "WALL" and "CEILING"
I started to worry that they might be getting the colors confused when I saw this ....

Then in the kitchen the colors were flip flopped - the wickham gray was on the ceiling and the glass slipper was on the wall.

The closer I looked, the more I wondered whether I should maybe finish the painting myself.

This was the final deciding factor ....

In my own house I can occasionally be a slacker - but...prep work is important to me. Especially when it comes to removing switch plates & light fixtures. These are not the fixtures that are staying- so we definitely need to paint under them.

Luckily they were working by the day, not by the job so it was okay for us  to part ways

Here is a look at the sheetrock from today

The pocket door that used to be by the kitchen is the right size for the 3rd bedroom, so Marcus is going to trim it down & hang it on there.
Just priming it first.
It will have a handle cut out - but I think that will just add a bit of character.

First mistake of the week:

Recessed light placement.
I am going to have to slide these two over a bit so that they are over the countertops.
We did measure them out before placing them, but then had to change the cabinet sizes at the last minute, which left them over the refrigerator box - and blocked.

Window boxes went up too.
These won't get planted for another week or so - but they already add some much needed character to the front of the house.

We are getting there!
It really is starting to look great.
